Why I was drawn to work with RiseUp Partnership and AmeriCorps

I was drawn to RiseUp Partnership because I've been around it for a long time. My mom works here, so I got to see how much RiseUp helps youth, both directly and behind the scenes, and I always admired that. Once I got the chance to be part of it myself, I loved it. I've worked in a few different roles at RiseUp, like mentoring students in and out of school, coordinating an afterschool program, and being a support in the schools. Every role has taught me something new and made me want to keep doing this work.

This year I'm at my hometown school in Lake City, and I'm so excited to be working with elementary kids! It means a lot to be back in the community I grew up in and give back to it. I hope to keep learning how to connect with younger students, be patient, and help them feel supported and confident. I'm excited to continue with RiseUp through AmeriCorps and be around the most supportive team ever!
