Board Member Highlight: Jay Tauer
Red Wing Shoe Company
How long have you been a RiseUp Partnership Board member?
I’ve served on the RiseUp Partnership Board for 30 years.
What drew you to RiseUp Partnership?
I strongly believe in the importance of the work RiseUp Partnership does for our community, especially for our youth. Red Wing has meant a great deal to me and my family, and I believe that ensuring every young person has the opportunity, support, and confidence to pursue their dreams is essential to the long-term success of Goodhue County.
What’s your favorite RiseUp program or event?
It’s hard to pick just one! The Community Youth Council, mentoring, and Independent Living Skills programs are just a few highlights that consistently do amazing, life-shaping work for young people in our community.
Why do you think others should get involved in supporting the work of RiseUp Partnership?
RiseUp Partnership makes a real, measurable difference in the lives of young people. Whether through donating, volunteering, mentoring, attending events, or simply spreading the word, getting involved means investing directly in our community’s future. When we support youth, we strengthen Red Wing for generations to come.
What’s your favorite thing to do in Goodhue County?
Some of my favorites are the Riverfront Center (Red Wing Shoe Headquarters), the “Ath”, the Bandshell at Central Park, Red Wing Golf Club, The Anderson Center, and Red Wing Arts, to name a few. Honestly, anywhere in Red Wing is pretty amazing.
